by Julia Zahmow

We are proud to announce that we achieved a Bronze Medal from EcoVadis, the world’s most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings.

We scored a 61 of 100, placing the company in the top 15% in our sector, Computer programming, consultancy and related activities, globally. EcoVadis is the global standard for business sustainability ratings. The EcoVadis assessment evaluates 21 sustainability criteria across four core themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. More than 125,000 companies globally have been rated by EcoVadis.

EcoVadis’ business sustainability ratings are based on international sustainability standards such as the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and the ISO 26000 standard. The ratings provide an evidenced-based analysis on performance and an actionable roadmap for continuous improvement.

Sustainability is part of Thing-it’s identity. Our solution aims to reduce energy consumption of office buildings, reduce emissions from commuting to offices and offer employees a better workplace experience. We address all these challenges by optimizing space occupancy complemented with a respective remote work strategy.

Thing-it Shines in Sustainability Evaluation, Aims for Even Greater Impact

Thing-it performed above industry average in all assessment topics, Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. We are especially passionate about environmental and social topics, since these are also the areas we are addressing in the services for our clients. In our industry, Labor & Human Rights is the topic with the highest weight, thus we want to work on further measures in this area. In Environment we excelled most thanks to our numerous measures focused on reducing and neutralizing carbon emissions, such as powering our office spaces with 100% renewable energy, calculating, and offsetting our emissions every year, and making our emissions transparent in our Sustainability Report.

Sustainable Procurement currently shows our weakest performance, as we have a small supply chain with rather low risk for critical incidents. However, we are glad EcoVadis outlines corrective actions that will help us improve in the upcoming months.

The assessment taught us a lot about sustainability reporting. It is a great incentive to formulate more clear guidelines and quantitative goals that will improve our capacity to measure our progress. Moreover, the assessment is a great tool to scan our sustainability strategy for potential gaps and take a holistic approach that covers all areas.

Our next objective is improving our score and reaching a Silver Medal in the next assessment in 2025.

Our sustainability manager is already working on exciting new sustainability initiatives. We’ll keep you posted. Our business partners can request our EcoVadis scorecard by using our contact form.
